Star Wars – A Force Awoken

In the first minutes of Thursday the 17th of December I along with over 200 others I sat and witnessed an epic “happening”. For the first time I whooped and I clapped in a cinema for a film. I cheered when characters appeared on screen and I laughed heartily when in jokes were made that my 13-year-old nephew had no idea what I was laughing at.

If you don’t know what I am talking about… What rock have you been living under? What Internet have you been looking at for the last month? It’s Star Wars – The Force Awakens of course! (more…)

Doctor Who – The Magicians Apprentice – Thoughts

Each year I say to myself I will keep a record or review each episode of Doctor Who and then something comes up or my procrastination comes into play and I never quite get around to it. This year, I am determined to do it. I am hoping that I’ll be able to get the reviews or thoughts out quicker than I have this week, but anyway, here are my thoughts on last Saturdays episode “The Magicians Apprentice”.

The Doctor and Clara wondering how long they have to wait for more Coffee

The Doctor and Clara wondering how long they have to wait for more Coffee

**This post is inspired by the weekly link up The Weekend Coffee Share originating from the Part Time Monster It is also bought to you By the letters W.H.O.**

Hey there, welcome back! Glad you enjoyed yourself so much last week that you felt you wanted to come back this week.

If we were having coffee this week, I’d probably be apologising profusely about the fact that we’d be drinking Instant Coffee and One Cup Tea. It has been an insanely busy week for all of us here. We had some new furniture delivered on Thursday and we spent the first half of the week emptying out the Living Room ready for its arrival. I don’t think anyone realises how much stuff three people can accumulate in a short space of time. If we were having coffee this weekend, I’d be chasing your mug around with brand new coasters so you didn’t leave a mug ring on the new coffee table! (more…)

I Am Addicted

(Read that post title to the tune John Bunyan’s “To Be A Pilgrim” – not that it has a bloody thing to do with this post)

Just over three weeks ago I went to the Doctors to keep a self made promise I made to my Mum. I am the kind of person who likes to try and keep his promises where ever possible, but sometimes I over egg the pudding, and occasionally I let my gob get in the way of common sense and offer more than I can deliver. This is one of those time, folks.

They'll Kill ya Folks

They’ll Kill ya Folks

Without airing everyone’s granny pants to the world, its’ time for me to give up smoking for the benefit of everyone in the household. To be supportive to Mum who has had to give up over night and has done it cold turkey and has been smoke free for close to 100 days,. For me health wise, I am getting no younger and with that natural health problems are just hastened on with adding cigarettes to the mix. Then there is the financial side to the whole thing,, it’s bloody expensive. (more…)

Erasing The Doctor

If I was to ask you what sprang to mind when I said the words “Doctor Who”, you, depending on which Doctor was “your” Doctor could possibly answer:

Bow-ties are cool!
Really Long Scarf’s!
Celery in the Lapel
Weeping Angels

It could be a list a mile long.

For me though it changes on a daily basis. I don’t really have a 100% firm MY Doctor… IF I am pinned down to just ONE, then it would probably have to be David Tennant. I found his performance to be everything I wanted from a Doctor, but to be honest, every Actor that has portrayed the great medic has something that the others just haven’t and makes them unique and MY Doctor whilst I am watching that story. A-Z – D – Dalek

On a planet just past The Madillon Star Cluster was a small, long forgotten Dalek research base that was forgotten for one very simple reason. Simon, The Depressed Dalek.

Simon, it was rumoured had a genetic link to some controller in the Dalek High Command. That shouldn’t have mattered to the Daleks as they were a bunch of miserable buggers who couldn’t give a monkey’s uncle about family, but you know what it’s like when your wifes sisters cousin; twice removed gets involved… it’s messy, especially at War Council Bar B Ques.

So Simon was shipped off and forgotten, except for the persistent rumours of a depressed Dalek who goes around smelling flowers and baking Jam Tarts for the rest of the troops. That kind of news always gets back to the Daleks who really don’t like THAT kind of news and they always want to EX-TER-MIN-ATE some thing or IN-VADE and blow some planet or other up. It gets messy, so reports of Simon often get lost in the transmat logs and no one really minds.

Simon loved the quiet life in at the research base, he wasn’t expected to EX-TER-MIN-ATE anyone. No random blasting of innocent people just using his blaster to top off his Creme Brule’s. He spent long lazy afternoons tending to his Bio-Dome allotment garden growing herbs for his pies  whilst all the other Scientists were using the Bio-Dome for nerve agents and deadly gases that would probably never get used because they were in a forgotten research base on a forgotten planet all because some Daleks were trying to forget a Depressed Dalek.

It’s not hard being the only Depressed Dalek in Dalekdom but it’s hard being stationed with the only depressed Dalek in Dalekdom!
