WCS – Descent Into Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy

If we were meeting for coffee this weekend, I would be gingerly sitting down and not moving my head too much. Last weekend I did *something* to my lower neck and it hasn’t improved any at all all week. Pain has been a visitor this week, a visitor that has overstayed its welcome well and truly.

My week has been dominated by TV.  I haven’t really been able to use a computer that much and using my tablet or Laptop has been out of the question for obvious reasons. This is the worst Crick in the neck I have had in years. I kinda feel like the Genie from Aladdin “10,000 years in a bottle can give you such a Crick in the Neck”. Over the weekend my brother sent me a You Tube video from the soundtrack from Sons of Anarchy:

Now, we as a family watch a lot of TV shows, American TV show especially, but Sons of Anarchy was a show that had never really crossed my radar. I had never really singled it out as I didn’t think it was a show that my household would like to watch. The Sopranos was a bit of a tough sell on my Mum, and we still haven’t finished it with her, and Gangsters don’t usually go down well. I wasn’t sure on the overall content really, so I gave it a pass. It’s not that we are prudish in this house, Game of Thrones is a big favourite so sex and violence isn’t a problem.

Anyway, I sent the above video to my Mum and within 20 minutes of her listening to the video, she demanded to know why if that was the standard of the music, we hadn’t been watching the programme????

Now, If we were having coffee this weekend, I would be asking you the question:

“How do I correlate the use of music to how good a TV show is?”

In the case of SoA, I think the answer is simple the producers have gone and  found excellent musicians and have used members of the cast (Katey Sagal) very well and kept the music home-grown and organic. We are at the end of Series 1 of Sons now and we are well and truly hooked. I figure by the time this weekend is over, we’ll probably be well into Series 2.

If we were having coffee this weekend I hope you wouldn’t mind the partisan atmosphere floating around the house at the moment as we build up to Saturday’s nights big Rugby match (or if you are reading this after Saturday.. the inevitable thrashing the Welsh took at the hands of the English Rugby team). You see my Mum has Welsh Heritage on her mother’s side and feels it only right to support the home team when Wales are playing. When England and Wales are playing it gets slightly fraught in the house with a bit of banter tossed back and forth.

England Vs Wales

England Vs Wales

I am guessing from the general breakdown of the people who I have noticed posting to the Weekend Coffee Share the past few weeks that I have participated, the greatest are from the USA, I’d like to offer this little primer 8 little differences between Rugby and (American) Football .

I used to play Rugby, and if we were having coffee this weekend, I would explain why I stopped playing Rugby when I did. When the people I was playing against started looking like trees and I started feeling like I was falling out of a tree every weekend, I knew it was time to give up. I had fun at the time and I did consider taking the game up again quite recently, but found it cost prohibitive in my area. It is a shame when grass-roots sports are priced out of the range of normal people, I am sure they have their reasons.

If we were having coffee this weekend I’d be really interested to know what you have been up to this week and I’d really like to know what TV shows have caught you by surprise, shows that you didn’t think you would like, but once you started watching them, got hooked and then ended up glued to Netflix or Amazon Prime for the next 5 days until your eyes were hanging out on their sockets? Will you be watching the Rugby this weekend or have you got any other sporting events lined up? Let me know? Don’t forget.. we have to fit Doctor Who in here somewhere too!!

Have a great weekend folks!

Until next time…

Dancing Elvis

It’s been a very strange week so far. I am recovering from an awful weekend of pretty much no sleep. My Insomnia decided to kick in full force and I spent close to 40 hours wide awake and then I very slowly came down from the weekend. I don’t really think I am fully over it all yet. To make matters worse, I lost yet another tooth over the weekend, so more toothache trouble and to heap more crap on to the pain wagon, I have a crick in my neck that just won’t ease up. I feel like I aged 30 years over one weekend.

One ray of sunshine (pun intended) came this morning when I came downstairs and my Solar Powered Bobble Head Elvis was dancing away. So I caught a quick 20 second video and stuck some music behind it.

I am off to carry on my self enforced recalibration

Until next time…

Project 39 – Week 9

It’s been a week that’s been full of roller coaster ride like emotions. Up and down twists and turns. Reaching the top of the highest peak and the having the car you are riding fall faster than a boulder to the bottom faster than a dead weight. (more…)

A Cold Snap

I think it shows that I am getting older when my first reaction after turning the alarm of in the morning is to check the weather on my phone before I venture a foot to the floor. The past week or so I have wanted to turn over and just become a weather denier. Minus temperatures are not normal for this time of year in this country It’s just not the done thing. It all feels rather Dickensian. I want to wake up and not see white out of my bedroom window, chances of that happening any time soon… ummm Zilch.

I am up at sill o clock again. I put this down to people badgering me to actually remember to get up when my alarm goes off several times yesterday. I have performance anxiety.

I have added a twitter thingamabob over on the right of the screen. It’s just shows the last 5 tweets that involved me from both of my accounts. I figure I am open and honest with my other websites why not link them altogether somehow. I will not double post on any of them but I will advertise them from time to time.

On a more personal note. I am in quite a deal of pain at the moment. I have a cyst growing somewhere a cyst shouldn’t grown and it’s fuckin painful to sit down stand up walk stand still you name it and it’s bloody painful. I called my doctors office to see if I could get an emergency appointment with some one (ANYONE) and they couldn’t or wouldn’t fit me in with anyone so they referred me to the 8-8 walk in clinic. I thought OK I’ll go there and they’ll either tell me to see  my own doctor tomorrow (would have been Wednesday) or send me to hospital to get the sucker drained. Both scenarios have happened before with various cysts I have had in the past. After sitting on an uncomfortable waiting room seat for about an hour I was called into a treatment room and was bought face to face with my diabetic nurse. Someone who I have gotten on quite well with before (She is a nurse at my regular surgery.) The nurse practitioner asked what the problem was and I explained the best I could (really it has to be seen to be fully understood) She asked to see the “affected” area. SO I drop em and sit on the edge of the examining tabel and with one look she said:

“Ohhh that looks like it hurts”

Understatement of the bloody year there my dear.

She prescribed me some of the same antibiotics I was given last time I had this particular type of cyst. Seeing as how busy we are at the moment with the move and all, I asked for something a biot stronger… she suggested Gin. I had to laugh but only if I didn’t I would have probably cried. I left the treatment room and went to the on-site chemist and filled my prescription and head  out back into the cold. So basically I am taking these generic antibiotics in the hope they work quicker than they did last time and I can actually contribute something useful to this moving malarkey.

Talking of the move. Things are progressing as well as can be expected. We have to take most of today off to clear the disaster zone that is this house as the letting agent have a potential tenant coming to view the house at 4pm this afternoon. Not the best of timing but they are eager to re-let the house as soon as we are gone despite there needing quite a bit of work needing doing before anyone can move in. But I guess they are the professionals and they know what they are doing. Mind you I feel like sabotaging it all by telling the prospective tenants that they are shit at answering telephone calls and calling people back after leaving numerous messages. I mean they REALLY suck at that, we are still waiting for a call back from 7 full days ago. and if they don’t call back soon I am gonna try em and leave a rambling Bipolaresque message on their answer phone, that not only confuses them but will make them think they are as crazy as me. It’s doable ya know… I have the loopy friends to prove my point.

Well that’s it from me this morning.

Later…
